November 14-18

Portland, Oregon

Here are just some of the awesome photos Rachel took with her film while we were in Oregon.

December 6-7, 2013

Carrollton, TX

No school or work these last 4 days thanks to the frozen city of Dallas. I’ve had the chance to relax and take a break from my regular routine. My little brother and I have been going on mini adventures outside finding hills to slide down on and slipping on ice. And just when I thought I would be back to work tomorrow, I just got word that work will remain closed, sweet!

Hope everyone is enjoying these days.

Ihop

Dallas, TX

Due to my lack of new adventures thanks to finals and the semester wrapping up, I decided to start posting some old photos of some great times.

This night was from more than a year ago after a late night shift at Urban Outfitters. It was a time when I was making lots of new friends and meeting so many new and amazing people. My friends in these photos are Miguel, Kimberly, and Haley. All very different but all with some very positive and genuine personalities. Some of the best people I met while working at Urban. This night was filled with photographs, laughter, milk shakes, and stories. Even though we have all drifted apart with just the occasional “hello” or “how have you been?” I hope we can soon reconnect and enjoy another night like this one.

Portland, Oregon

Didn’t get much video footage while I was in Portland but I got just enough to make this little video. I’ve been getting into making videos like this one a lot lately so hopefully you’ll get to see more in the near future. Hope you guys enjoy!

Stumptown  Coffee Roasters / Downtown

Portland, Oregon

On my third day in Portland, Rachel and I took the MAX into Old Town/Chinatown to visit the Saturday Market. After spending some time there we began walking around the streets of downtown and without expecting it, found Stumptown.

Of course we decided to go in and spend some time in there relaxing and drinking one of their delicious drinks. Spending time here was probably my favorite thing I did in my whole trip to Portland. The place was playing some really good and loud music through their huge collection of vinyls. The workers were all super nice and probably noticed we weren’t from there since we were taking photos non-stop of the place. The customers came in and out constantly, some staying others picking up. The atmosphere was all in all so great. So great that we went back the day after and ended up spending more hours there than anywhere else.

Portland, Oregon

On Thursday, Nov. 14 at around 5am I left my home in Dallas to leave for Portland, Oregon. My girlfriend Rachel goes to the University of Oregon in Eugene and we decided to take a mini vacation to Portland for the weekend. Not to mention I hadn’t seen her in 3 months. The trip was simply wonderful. Full of long walks, cold weather, coffee, and MAX trail rides. 4 days just weren’t enough.

Friday night we walked from our hotel to the Wonder Ballroom to see the band Cults on their Static Tour. Cults had a great set that seemed almost short but was enough to fit in all the favorites.

Saturday morning we took the MAX to Oldtown/Chinatown and hung around the Saturday Market. From there, we walked through most of downtown stumbling through some neat places including Voodoo doughnuts and Stumptown ending up eventually in Pioneer Place Mall. After getting back to the hotel and getting some rest, we decided to walk almost 40 minutes to experience Hawthorne Street at night. To our surprise, it was pretty much dead. We had heard so many good and fun things happening here but apparently these things end soon and early because we were there around 9pm on a Saturday night! Oh well.

Due to the success of Old Town and downtown in general we ended up back there on Sunday. Spent a couple of hours in Stumptown working on homework and drinking their delicious special Holiday drink. As fun as this day was it was also full of bittersweet moments where we knew we would soon have to say goodbye.

It was a great 4 days where all I wanted was a feeling of happiness and carelessness and that was exactly what I got. I know I will be back very very soon.

Sixteen Gasoline Stations Project

Dallas, Little Elm, Carrollton, Frisco

Sixteen Gasoline Stations was a project inspired by Ed Ruscha’s Twentysix Gasoline Stations. His book was published in 1963 and included photographs of gas stations along the famous Route 66. This was a part of a research project for Art class and I had a lot of fun shooting it. The above photos are my 3 favorites out of the 16.
